Joe Stafford Elected to LAB Board

2002 Board Elections Results (as reported by LAB)

 

The ballots were counted by volunteers at League offices in Washington, DC on Friday May 3, drawing the Board elections for 2002 to a close.  

 

The contested election in Region 2 resulted in League member and club leader,  Joe Stafford of Dallastown, Pennsylvania being elected to represent the Region on the Board of Directors. The founder and executive director of the Bicycle Access Council of Pennsylvania, Stafford won the Region 2 seat in the election against Board-nominated candidate and League life member Tom Helm from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, 19 to 18.

 

Stafford will join new Board members Donald Sparks from Charleston, South Carolina and Richard Killingsworth from Chapel Hill North Carolina. Donald Sparks, the new Board member from Region 3, is the founding president of the Charleston Bicycle Advocacy Group and a professor at the Citadel. Richard

Killingsworth, appointed by the League board, is the executive director of Active Living by Design at the University of North Carolina's School of Public Health.

 

League President Chris Kegel was re-elected to his position as the board member from Region 5 and Fred Meredith was re-elected to his at-large seat.
